Thread: Hook beach fishing contest.

Some mates and I entered in the hook beach contest today, i landed myself a 8.64lb elephant fish which took 2nd place. Lost another donkey earlier in the day my knot on the hook let go much to my frustration but these things happen. Overall not alot of action for many people one of the group landed a 9lb rig and another got a good sized kahawai 4lbish and large Grey boy shark. Plenty of spiny dogfish from people using squid as bait but those are more a pest than anything. A good turnout of 150ish anglers. Largest fish was a 9kg skate caught by one of the kids which was cool to see. Hope summer brings more good catches for everyone.

is elephant fish any good for eating?

Yes very good for eating, firm white flesh and no bones.
