Second paragraph, may pay to look up your local rules.

Beautiful rivers here in the Hawkes Bay, if you want to come up and fish them Spanners then you can have some of my spinners that we use, all chemically sharpened single hooks.

That top one might be a 10gm lure better for deep pools or lakes, trebles are a pain for getting more snags. I cut the extra two hooks off and remove the belly hook completely. They would all catch trout.

    Spanners

Hook size is just a matter of personal preference really

I've made and sold thousands of trout files on #2 size or bigger on request.

Here's a Trout Fly I knocked up as a 12yr old .... I slipped it onto my old mans fishing jacket for a bit of a laugh.

He found it a week or two later and swears he caught..... and released ..... the biggest trout he has ever caught with it.

Of course there was no evidence to back up his claim .... including that the fly appeared to be bone dry still.

I have never been a 'serious' fisherman but I brought a heap of gear off someone here and have no idea what 1/2 of it is for.
Slowly digging through and organizing it so at least ill look the part LOL
I tied flies as a child also.. No idea what was doing but they looked good will have to hit the old boy up and see if he has them still and see if I can catch anything on them
