Jeez these fellahs have some flash techniques GM. Just get yourself a builders string line, whack a fuck off big hook on it and whack a smelly old bonito head onto the hook. Tow the line, hook and head behind your kayak into the kelp and let it drift around. Now just wait for the biggest, smartest old snapper in the area to claim it. Bazinga.

Er no VC I must admit that I haven't. But I would bloody well like to as my missus was raised down there and there are a bunch of good buggers I would like to catch up with. Do you not have kelp in Nelson?

Not really no...not unless you are well north.

I just want to get out but this bloody wind is unbelievable. I have both my boats and kayaks up here but they are all are still on the hard. The only thing getting used are my Paddle boards. Got the Son here with his GF and the Daughter's BF arrives today so I have a camp of keen fisho's wanting to wet a line

A bit like lake Ellesmere, but that far into the lake it is only 2m deep.

find some rocks in 10meters or more of water sharp drop offs are nice
    seaweed is good
get there as the sun is just about to rise
hang a burley bomb over the side
set your bait to sit just above the bottom
    be patient,

if you havent got anything in a few hours, and yes i mean hours try again in the evening and fish on to dark

all else fails come up north and see me, ill take you out and we will have no trouble catching snapper
