    Having the tapered leader is the biggest help behind the rod. It keeps the knot tiny and you don't feel or hear a thing as it rattles through the eyes. Mainline is still nylon but is 12 or 15kg if I remember and the tapered leader is something like 10 at the small end to 20 lb as it gives stretch and forgiveness unlike any braid. My rod is worth $700.
