    New fishfinder?

After battling for 20 minutes attempting to log on to the fishing.net.nz forums I give up...

Anyhow my aged raytheon fish finder has finally crapped out so looking for a replacement.

Boat is a 4M pontoon used for inshore blue cod fishing in up to 30M depth and trout trolling so really only looking for something that will give a depth reading and bottom profile, nothing fancy, doesn't even need a GPS.

was looking at something like this

    https://www.marine-deals.co.nz/lowra...let-transducer

but perhaps there are better options?

One feature I have read about that the cheapys don't do is give a decent bottom profile at speed, my old sounder is monochrome and basic as but it does seem to cope at speed. On occasions i have seen a peak come up on the sounder when cruising over fairly featureless terrain and it has turned out to be to be a good mark so I can see the value in this

Burnsco have better deals on Lowrance at the moment. I just picked up Hook2 5x as it had much higher resolution than the 4x.
