    New Surf Rod ....... Options

Ok, my surf rid has developed a problem...its now 2 ft shorter than when I got it. It was a $30 worth of tele rod,$30 worth of reel bundle, which I paid $100 for. It's earnt its keep.
Looking at 12-14 ft, preferably 3 piece. What's the best (budget wise) rod only around. While the tele one did the job, and was handy for tucking out of the way in ute, it was to soft in the tip for my liking.
Be looking at some shops tomorrow. Any brand better than others, and which to avoid.

Unless someone around here has 1 they're willing to pass on.

I reckon Daiwa is making some of the best surf rods for threadline reels at the moment without going to the smaller volume higher priced brands.

Particularly if you want the new graphite types to fish braid.

Depending on how much you want to spend look st the sensor surf or models below that.

If only I’d had a look on here before entering the shop. Thanks for the offer @gadgetman but I’ve got a shiney 3 piece in my sweaty mitts as we speak. Should’ve had a look at the reel before going in as well, salt water and sand does no favours to cheap reels. Pulled it to bits and got rid of the grit, but also managed to lose the reverse ratchet. Abit of bungee will sort that out until get something else

@oraki, my telescopic surf rod suffered the same fate :-)

Replaced it with a 14 ft Kilwell Black Shaddow 3 piece. Very happy with it so far.

Mine was pulled out to wash and jammed. The rings weren't lined up, so all sorts of ideas were tried to free it, until........

Tis a shame. If you look closely that one is also shiny and new, complete with tags. Bought when a shop was being cleared for earthquake repairs.
