Was the water clear where you go? Sounds like the perfect spot to jump in with a speargun and lay some berley...

Sadly No, it's muddy green at best, also have been told by flounder fisherman that these shallows are the maternity ward for a certain large species of shark ....

The jetski don't mind dirty water, but can have issues with debris (flax really sucks, excuse the pun!). The manufacturers recommend 60cm of water underneath intake to avoid sucking sticks and stones off the bottom, but on the move this isn't an issue.
The firth is a well known birthing area for big bronze whaler sharks, and there are heaps and heaps of hammerheads, we often see them sunbathing on the surface in summer, mostly small ones but it makes you wonder where mum is.... I heard secondhand that work crews flying Auckland-Coromandel by helicopter used to count over 100 hammerheads on some trips, with some very large ones seen
