While we had our little "Grab The Bloody Ark Noah" storm front go through last week, with at one stage 160mm falling on the farm in 4 hrs in amongst a week of rain ,while we were rained in the missus was going through some old photos & found one of the first time our 8 mtr Walk Around self build "Big Bitch " left the mates shed ,ready to hit the water.(Forums archaic system would not allow adding pic to earlier post)

It was a 6 month build ,between us 3 mates & coming on to its 9th year of giving some great memories & fantastic extended trips at sea & powered with the twin 225hp Hondas it has been a solid rig ,that has gone through a evolution to suit our needs as we have moved from being Sportfish /Marlin /Broadbill chasing focused to Spear Fishing ,Exploration & Diving being our passion now .

@kukuwai Yep thats a Ford Explorer she is making look like a Suzuki ,we built it so it was at max for towing without permits/pilot vehicle etc .We have 2 tow vehicles my farms truck & mates work truck, all up she is 4.5ton loaded up .It has been a perfect Mother Ship for our regular trips into the Fiordland & Stewart Island etc towing our smaller rigs.

Small addition to the fleet, can start running the nets again, and try and remember my old dinghy launch spots.

Yup, and shouldn't require weightlifting skills when I end up on the mudflats.
Previous owner has put some effort into stiffening up the hull and extra buoyancy which is nice.

Just picked up ' Big Bitch' our Self Build 8mtr Walk Around Dive/Sports Fisher ,our Bach has a twin Hangar from the previous owners & as the Bach is walking distance to a beach launch, BB will be staying in the Bach Hangar from now on ,so l had wider tires & custom guards fitted to accommodate them on the trailer & a extendable draw bar for the Beach launches .

Will be taking her out wide for a Spear Fishing Session in a couple of days as the missus brought new beds & wardrobes for the bed rooms at the Bach & we will chuck them on the BB's deck to take them down ,l refitted the front under floor 120ltr fuel tank replacing the interchangeable Kill Tank ,giving her 520lts under floor ,so she is all set up for trips down to Stewart Island & Mother Ship trips again, after 2 years of Lock down cluster fucks .

We have a 7.5 metre Seahouse with a jet in it for going out off the south coast fishing, mainly for shallow low tide bar crossings as our sea conditions and bars are quite unforgiving down here. Old man got this custom built, it’s been all thru Fiordland, around Stewart Island, the Sounds etc. Up many a river a boat this size shouldn’t go.

I had a 3.2 Keelowcraft jet boat for a while but sold it and bought a Stabicraft 1550 fisher a couple years ago as a easy to beach launch, light to tow inshore fishing and diving boat. So easy with the kids, can tow it anywhere. Quite a versatile little boat that’s got us into some cool spots.
