I like bait that doesn't fall off the hook fast, trevally, fresh kahawai or mullet squid those types of things.

yep them bullet tuna work well but still not as good as fresh jack macs... fresh beats frozen hands down every time ALWAYS keep bait flies in your boat

that was a mix of both bullets and fresh macs stray lined over a nice chum trail on the last weekend of the 9 fish limit between me and 2 good mates were out jigging for kings and saw sign on the sounder so dropped the pick for an hr good result......

I find freshly caught, frozen wrapped in newspaper then thawed Bonito is the shiznit. Fresh kahawai fillets (no skin) and Trevally butterflied meat out work even better

fresh bonito caught that day and kept on ice is better but if your being real that's not always possible..... I do prefer fresh but there are those days where you don't have time or you just cant find bait so having a good quality frozen alternative is a must

I do a lot of fishing in the kaipara and as long as its mullet fresh or frozen is just as good it seems
