    Kaimanawa/Kaweka family options

Does anyone have any recommendations on huts/blocks for a bucket list family trip? Looking at flying in, and most likely a private block, between Oct and Feb
    My thoughts are:
Somewhere scenic, with easy walks for non-hunting family members
Comfortable hut, the bigger the better (probably do an extended family invite)
Maybe a river for trout fishing
Open areas for hunting, in fairly easy country. Not too fussed on whether we shoot anything but always like seeing animals.
    Feel free to PM!
    Cheers

    Oamaru?
tetawa, stug and Shearer like this.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Tauranga Taupo is another option. 1 double bunk,3 singles. Comfortable, warm and not too hard to get around. The river is great for swimming in warm weather

Oamaru, North Arm are great, need to book well ahead for spring, summer. Costs have increased considerably under the new regime that now controls these private blocks which are normally fully booked Oct- May. They don't get "rested." Look further afield if hut comfort isn't a priority during the warmer months, there are private blocks which don't get hammered outside the silly season.
