Thanks Maca, certainly sounds interesting but I've literally got a stack of books taller than my son that I've bought and simply haven't had the time to read yet and am not likely to in the forseeable future either. I need a holiday!
Sweet. I am being put out on the good old 309 road for an early stage, which means I should easily get back in town for the special stages outside home

Bugga..I got that wrong. I managed to get put at the finish of a stage.
It is pretty weird having lots of loud fast rally cars whizzing around town today, getting a feel for the place etc.

I remember years ago me and my mates were running amuk in Auckland one night. Anyway it was 6am and we went past sky city and next minute all the wrc cars started firing out of the carpark!!! Wtf we said so proceeded to give chase tapped out in the primera along the motorway limiting at 180 with all the cars limiting past, dropping back and doing the same again! Was fricken epic. Ended up in raglan?? And spent the day watching the rally. Decided at 2pm we were in no state so headed off. Came around a corner and low and behold its Colin McCrae changing a flatty. Next thing i know we are stopped beside him and his navi and my mate says "bro you sweet? Ive got a spare in the boot if you need it". Colin gave us the best evils ive ever seen! Bloody hilarious!
There is a noisy whining bloody RX7 keeps going up and down out side my place tonight.

F1 makes me yawn, as do V8 Supercars and all the other 4 wheel disciplines, except for rally car racing - those guys are great, real drivers driving by the seat of their pants dealing with constantly changing variables at ridiculous pace with often restricted vision angles and limited time to assess/decide/execute with bigger consequence than for the other mobs if they fuck up, if I didn't road race bikes I'd take some brave pills and go race rally! love to have that lot going past my door!

Father in law does the radio comms with AREC here in HB and I usually go with him for the day and the good viewing spot!
7. Avoid alcohol or drugs when handling firearms
Good judgement is the key to safe use of firearms.

Well I put in a solid day from 6am at my designated marshall point, and only got to see the cars chug away from the timing tent at the end of my stage, which is not very spectacular.
I got a few pics from another stage so will sort out the best of a bad bunch and put them up later. All in all, a great day for a small town.
