Thread: Members making first posts in the buy and sell section

Not out to start a shit fight or anything but wouldn't it be better for new members to allow us to get to know them first before they start buying or selling in the Buy and sell section instead of just signing up and first post is to buy or sell something?, just makes me feel a bit wary of them not that I am saying they would rip us off or anything but just worried that we may get the odd one or two that may try to join just to list their stuff or buy something that has come up in a google search then bugger off again once deal is done.Only reason to say this is because I found a thread this morning from someone here in NZ making a first post wanting to sell an E cat L1A1 on here and another first post from someone overseas wanting to buy it which just concerns me a little not worried about long time members posting stuff like this but brand new members with 0 post count just does not sit right with me especially if we do not know who they are. Last thing I want to see is all the good buggers on this forum get their fingers burnt or the forum being used just for a quick buy or sale and then we never hear from them again especially when we all contribute in one way or another to make our forum what it is and that is a happy little community that shares stories and experiences for others to learn from.

Maybe just throw a 5-post minimum count before they can access/post in the buy-sell section?

Yeah I think at least an intro post.

even a 30 post limit then you know they are serious about contributing to this forum, Would be good to hear views from tussock and Co on this.

There is a reason we've had an influx of 1st time posters in the buy sell.
No need to go much further as to why. ..

We'll talk about a post limit maybe, but if someone is here to use that area only , the posts to beat that limit will just be shite

Just don't disclose the post count limit if they do not know the post count then they can't try to beat it and if they ask they get told to wait.
