Got pretty tired of all the negativity and bullshit people spout on social media. So I recently deleted FB and all media apps off my phone, and only have a quick scroll on here maybe once a day. When over half of the new topics here are links to media and politics it's hard to stay interested. Still love a good hunting report though. Bloody refreshing to just log off be honest. I also haven't watch the "news" on TV for over five years now, and that's been one of the best things ever. More time to do things I like to do, and spend time with my boys in the evenings.

I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

I grew up in a family of communists and trade unionists and recall sitting on the dinner table while my communist grandfather expounded Marxism with his cronies. I was born in the "Freemans Bay" and remember it being torn apart and our families being moved into "Transit Camps" to break down the working class resistance to Government dominance. This country has always been a socialist experiment, and that continues today. If you cunts want to be rats in a maze - go for it. I'm gonna head for the bush and live or die how I want. I don't even expect to live a lot longer, but it will not be how Saint Jacinda wants, or how Cahill wants, or how the ferkn Islamists want or how Tarrant wants - it will be how I fukn want. So you can bend over and get fukt by all of the above - that's your choice. Fukya. seeya.
I hear what you say, mate and I wish you all the best with your decision. If I were also a wealthy man and could afford my own patch of bush far from the madding crowd, I'd do the same in a flash. I also wish you everlasting good health as if you ever need medical care, you'll find yourself back in the maze and reliant on all sorts of rats to survive. I live an hour from the nearest village and happily rely on no one for entertainment or survival. That is until 6 weeks ago when I was lifted by chopper and under went 8 hours under the knife and 9 hours on a heart lung machine. It's these sorts of things that make 'living in the bush' unpredictable. Anyway, the very best of luck and I wouldn't hesitate to do the same if a piece of solitude in our over crowded, tourist infiltrated NZ presented itself.

The hallmark of this forum has been no politics, and now its reading like the NRA for dummies.
There are members now who only ever talk political bullshit - never about hunting or shooting. Its ruining the place for me.
Ive had a guts full of it.
I used to have a rifle club I belonged to, it has been shut down for now over this shit, at least to me who only ever have had bolt actions. That place got ruined for me. Yes, I'd much rather talk about how my load with @shooternz's boolits fly, but has to wait indefinitely.

Well since my 3 rifles (semi and lever) are now illegal and my range is closed... here we are. Good for those of you whose ox has not (yet) been gored.

The socialists in the beehive and elswhere would just love us to shut up. I think genuine discussions about political threats to us as participants in our sports is totally needed, warrented and essential. I am not on FB or any other social media and believe politicians, police and the anti hunter/ shooters all take note of our feelings on here. So does the international community. This is good. We should not lie down and be good quiet compliant wee muppety lambys. Our forum is important and should be a good information exchange tool for all things affecting us; from ammo to boots to headlights to game populations and to threats to our interests. As I said; the socialists and extreme greens would just love us to shut up.

That of course depends on the purpose of this forum. There are plenty of legitimate platforms to express your political and anti/government firearm legislation views on. You will still be heard.
This forum was founded on a "no politics" policy. It was defined by it. Now it is defined by something else. That's a shame to me.

What about reality? You might not be allowed to own your firearms, bolt-action or otherwise, soon. Hope you know how to make a good spear. I have a passion and it's for my right to go hunting, you compliant pussy

@outlander, thankyou. I am a pensioner, sucking off the public tit, not at all a wealthy man, and a medical/physical wreck. But I am a Law-abiding licenced firearms owner and refuse to be typified as a dangerous owner of guns. The only danger I wish to pose is to deer, and I can barely make it to the letterbox and back at the moment. But I despise the political bullshit that deems me, and all you other blokes, a danger to society, and I will not give up my right to express my political views, as you other pussies seem prepared to do. SO shut up and try to be safe (it won't work) or speak up (it might work) Do what you want but don't tell me to shut up. I'm leaving this forum and will say what I want elsewhere. As said prior, fukya, seeya. Take care of yourselves and watch your backs.

That's a bit severe. Not compliant. Many of us don't have to comply as we just have non-illegalised guns. But some of us should make at least a show of being mighty upset about others being splattered under the proverbial bus.

I gave a former Green party candidate a lift the other day. I don't know if it was a good move to horrify her by telling her of the possible rate of fire of bolt actions, or double barrel shotties. She really knew nada about firearms or had not really thought much through. On one hand I thought, "darn, now they might come for all but single shot bolt actions!" but I also formed an impression that she was genuine with no militant agenda, just did not "get" hunting. There is a place for just getting out there and informing.

Sadly I can't invite anyone to my club range at the moment. Non-starter inviting such persons for a hunt.

Life is far too short for negatively and hate talk, what's done is done and it won't be going back, yes a segment of our shooting community got unnecessarily screwed over and while I most certainly feel for these people (and there's possibly more FA restrictions coming) it appears we can't change it, need to accept it and move on and continue enjoying the shooting and hunting that we still have left.....while it lasts.

Don't dwell on the negative, it'll just make you bitter and twisted. Focus on the good stuff.

I never told you to shut up. It may have been the letter box..?
