Knocked over a young Sambar yesterday with a 178 gr ELD X out of my 300 Win, only 50 yds away but he spun round and fell over dead. No exit hole but it worked. Went 100 kg so he wasn't that small .
Looking forward to getting more animals with the ELD X bullets they certainly look the part.
Yes I think that either way works but the only good thing about an exiting bullet is there will be a good blood trail should it move far from the spot. Those Sambar are a very solid animal and a bullet like the ELD-X up close is not likely to exit, still dead is dead and he didn't go anywhere.
