This is fun, heres a pic of my gong 12 inch 10mm brinel 450 steel whatever that is, seems pretty hard. The big dents are a 300 win mag at 100 yds 165 gr A max I think. Too busy telling him off to take much notice. Its had ss109s pumped at it and steel core 7.62x39 just a mix of tiny dents as a result. Other cals with hunting projs don't seem to do a thing. Usually lives at 300 m but sometimes you have to stalk in closer just because you can.Name: My Gong.jpg

It is a much much greater risk with mild steel/biz80 as you can see it buckets out the steel and turns the bullet inside out and returns the lot back at ya, good hard steel 400-500 grade and hunting projectiles driven at the speeds they work at will just totally splat and all energy goes out at 90 degrees from plate surface.

Cunning trick to prevent ricochets straight back is to hang the steel so it slopes at around 10 degrees or more backward, this deflects the bits of bullet downwards.

Yeah so top is closer. Loosely hung too so it swings straight away. Smaller target at range though when your lobbing a 308 like a mortar
