I would be wary about trying to lighten Tikka / Sako triggers too much if they only have a single adjustment screw that adjusts both weight and sear engagement. Better to get an aftermarket spring to lighten the weight of pull and still leave a good amount of sear engagement but no 'creep'. With the aftermarket spring ( avl from a forum member $35) the T3 trigger is chalk and cheese better than the factory adjustment.

Quite possible my Sako has an after market spring, just not fitted by me (there's plenty of adjustment left in the trigger pull weight screw), never had any issues with function it breaks like glass every time. Aside from my normal saftey, bump etc tests I had mine checked over by a smith and they had no issues or concerns with it other than to tell me it was indeed a very nice trigger and I would see little if any benefit fitting a Timmney/Jard etc. Given that it is 2lbs pull and that is within the safe working parameters as provided by Sako/Beretta I'm not inclined to pull it apart just to check. Maybe if I have the action out of the stock for another reason I might have a nosey just for curiosity sake. I have just finished load developement and verification on the Sako so I'm not inclined to pull it apart and re assemble re torque it back into the stock, re check zero etc, it can stay the way it is and consequently has worked without fault for the last couple of years.

Wow really, I did several decent bump tests on the T1x (same trigger as T3) after i shortened the adjustment screw and backed it out more than you normally can, and the trigger didnt break.

The Tikka triggers are very good but a single adjustment screw isnt foolproof as Trout found. Perhaps his spring was a smidge shorter than it should be. I have not had one adjust to unsafe on the three I have done. The aftermarket spring is at least the same length as the factory one but much lighter so results in a light trigger but still safe as far as sear engagement. Likely what Dannyb has. I fitted an aftermarket Tikka spring to my BSA Hunter which now has a nice light trigger with full sear engagement - so a little creep / travel but very safe.

I can’t understand why some manufacturer has not made a copy of the set trigger on a Brno 600 series rifle – a lovely standard hunting trigger with a set trigger insert – push it forward and you have a hair trigger adjustable to very low pressure. I still have the standard trigger, small rod and screwdriver in a factory bag. An ageless Brno in “timeless” 270 dannyb.
I have my T3 trigger set to 2lb – but I would prefer the Brno anytime as the trigger is not light until I push it forward and I am ready to fire.

My CZ 527 17 Hornet has the push forward set trigger, I have it set pretty light, and use it heaps on the longer shots on rabbits

Best way i found to do the tikka triggers is wind it in then all the way back then about 1/2 turn back in, have done everything possible to test it and its very safe and still nice and repeatable

So it over compresses the spring slightly eh, and makes it a tad shorter/softer

Just a thought @dannyb is your mate on the tools?
If so he might suffer from lack of feeling in his finger tips. Thus he likes the heavier trigger.

Might have also been said, but did you test for slam fire after adjusting the trigger. Ie cock the rifle on an empty chamber and the drop it onto its but an see if it beats the trigger and fires.

Absolutely no harm in asking, but yes I did multiple bump tests, saftey on safety off, open close the bolt saftey on and off, trigger pull whilst saftey on. It's as safe as it was prior to adjusting.

This is one of the major plus points of a T3. The factory trigger is very good out of the box and lightening it is easy and foolproof as the Allen key screw Cam refers to can only screw out so far. It’s so much easier and more intuitive than the Remington trigger.
