Lightbulb Which ammo?? Federal VS Sako 150gr

    I am running a Bergara B14 Extreme Hunter 308WIN

Trying to decide on which ammo to use for deer stalking. I am going to use box ammo. Currently looking at Sako Gamehead 150gr Soft Point OR Federal Power-Shok 150gr.

Does anybody have any experience with either of these two rounds or anything else (at a similar price point?)

    Thought and opinions appreciated.

    Cheers!

The answer to most questions is Sako

Sako 150 game head was shooting amazing in my Bergara 16inch. Single digit sd too / 5 shots, not often you see this these days with factory ammo. It killed also well.

Plus if you one day decide to reload, Sako brass is pretty good

I just check gun city site and the sako is actually cheaper, and even more so if you buy the 50 round pack. The sako shoots well in my howa. Seems an easy choice to me.

I'd have said the same in the past - it's not readily available now. I'd suggest the Sako, and the 50 round pack is a lot more economical. Only downside is you'd need to repack it for taking on a flight (rounds can't be touching if trying to fly with it). Not really a major problem though.

There's a saying "if it won't shoot blue box (federal) well it won't shoot anything. That said price may be your guide.

I thought the saying was "if it's blue it'll make you spew" but each to their own haha. Maybe that's just for shots and not stuff that shoots!

I've shot Federal before and found it mid range in terms of everything really, not the cheapest but not the most expensive, grouped OK but not the best, did everything else asked of it though so no complaints?

Try a cheap box as well. Ppu shoots pretty good on the rifles Ive tried it in. Some are anti it here but s&b shoots ok as well so far for me
