Applying for FAL without family referee

    Hi all,

Does anyone know the situation regarding firearms licence applications when one does not have a family member present in the country? This would apply to migrants, long term visitors etc.

My understanding is that the FAL application and subsequent endorsements require one of your referees to be a family member. Are there ways around this if one does not have an available family member?

    Many thanks.

There will be a way around it ..... You will have to discuss this with the arms officer.... They are usually good people to deal with and have common-sense (unlike most govt departments).....
You will also have to prove that you have a gun safe to store your gun in while your here.. Unless you are visiting someone here this may be your biggest problem.
Just a hunt for you if you are heading theses ways....
    Good luck

It's not a problem. Just have someone living with you and one other who is a FAL holder. Make sure storage is sorted by the time the interview happens.

This is how I got mine.

I havent used a family ref in years, applied for D and E cat no issues. It doesn't have to be someone you live with, you may live alone.
