That would be awesome, I'm in Queens town from the 9th, leaving lunch time of the 12th, are you very far from there? I'm happy to cover costs of ammo and a pub meal for your troubles.

Rushy. The law changes in Aus were due to the Port Arthur massacre in Tasmania where 36 (IIRC) people were shot and killed with more injured. It is over the top and the laws shouldn't be so harsh but a good reason to spark the change.

Thanks Normie, I remember that and recall that it really rocked the Aussies so understand. Still the old addage that "guns don't kill people, people kill people and sometimes by using guns" still rings true.

Hopefully for the Aussies things will cool off and start to move back towards sanity over time with the right political influences. Canada had a long guns registry up until about 4 or 5 months ago that kept track of (rather, tried to keep track of) all the non-restricted firearms in the country (bolt-actions, hunting shotguns, semis over a certain length, ect.) and it was a huge waste of money. The conservative government said they'd cut it and when they won the majority in parliament and they did, even after 20-odd years of wasteful spending by previous governments.

I'm not looking forwards to moving to Aussie in February...

I'm reminded of something Rob Muldoon once said... "Every New Zealander that emigrates to Australia raises the average IQ of both countries..."

I am sitting at Auckland airport about to get on a plane to Sydney on business. I have dusted off the normal Kiwi vs Aussie repertoire of insults like "is your arse jealous of the shit that comes out of your mouth" but any new ones you can offer will be appreciated as being locked up in meetings for two straight days there is bound to be ample opportunity for some good one liners to be used.
