Back in AKL, looking for shooting buddies

As some of you know, I've recently moved back to the Land of Auck after a 2 year hiatus in Whangarei.

Apart from what I was exposed to in the army (viz. F88, C9, GPMG), my shooting background is primarily handgun based and since living in NZ, this is the first time that I've owned rifles / shotguns. I'm interested in meeting some of the local members, in particular to learn from those more experienced than I.

I'm also interested in pistol and service rifle shooting so if anyone does those too I'd be interested in joining a club - provided that it isn't three days camel ride from my digs (North Shore). I like to think that I'm a reasonable, polite person who is a keen and responsible shooter.

    Cheers

    Ryan

    Hey Ryan.

I shoot pistol at Howick and APC but they are a lil hike from North Shore in the traffic. But if Howick is not to far to go then pop on over if your keen to shoot more pistol. We shoot IPSC and Service and run comps on Sundays and general range time on Tuesdays 5pm-7pm for centrefire and rimfire from 7pm onwards.

Im also keen on Service Rifle but just haven't been able to get into it due to work most weekends.

Let me know if your keen.
    Cheers.

    Hey LD!

Sounds good, I work over in the town so it shouldn't be too much of a hassle getting to Howick and Sundays are great too If you drop me a PM with some details we can arrange a meet sometime?

As mentioned, Howick pistol club. Great for indoor shooting come winter max 25 yards, 8 bays.

Auckland Pistol Club, out by Brookby past Manukau and then use the Botanical Gardens turn off on the motorway (used to take me @45 mintues drive from Takapuna)- website is here - they shoot IPSC, ISSF and NRA Action, all outdoor ranges. APC have a great training process too, for you to do your six months probation, training and shooting under supervision. Max 50 yards. Open Wednesday afternoons, Sat and Sunday but time restrictions for shooting exist.

OMNI pistol club shoot at the NZDA Riverhead range too, Auckand NZDA website is here, it's open weekends, but the challenge there is there is limited time for entry and exit. Miss the window to get in and you can't get in as the gate is locked behind them on arrival (range is a couple of km down the road). The range isn't available all the time as sometimes there's competitions on, besides it's currently closed due to the extreme fire risk.

Waiuku Pistol Club, website is here, open Wednesday -> Sunday 1000 - 1600. Further to drive from North Shore, but open more than anyone else.

Ja I've been to that range several times and the whole gate thing is quite annoying.
