Woops .
I used shooter for a year or so with Balistic Plex Burris scopes. Shot Tahr and deer over 650 yards.
Understanding the hash marks is as important as known the bullet velocity. The Burris FFII are marked 1.5, 4.5, 7 and 11 MOA(at full magnification) . Therefore anything within and a little over 11 MOA shouldn't be an issue(this was about 730 yards for my 270WSM.
Strelok Pro does offer a solution at any magnification, which is nice if you haven got the time to work this out at the range.
I have Strelok. worked well on the 5,6 and 700m(furthest shot) gongs I shot today at a south taranaki shoot. 3/3 500m, 3/3 600m and 2/3 700m. and I have only checked it at 200 and 300m. so its pretty accurate.
Got Ballistic AE last night after much research. Pretty impressed, in particular with all the loads listed and the truing functions. Spin drifts a bit crazy. More than I thought it'd be. Thank fck we're in the Southern Hemisphere aye?
Looking forward to trying it out tomorrow with some long range stuff.
It's already put me off my yardage CDS. Not as obvious in Strelok how much difference temp, humidity and altitude make. Don't see much point in a yardage CDS now, seeing as it'll probably only be good to 500yds or so and I have holdovers up to that distance at a good zoom ratio.
