Best long distance range in Auckland

    Hey Team

might be a better place to ask this question but I recently moved to Auckland from the south (I know what a silly thing to do )

Because this place seems to have a lot more of these things called buildings and not many large open paddocks like I'm use too, was wondering where the best place to go to hit steel at range is?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Where about in Auckland are you?
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

Read the first post of this thread: http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.n...ad.php?t=26322, which will lead you to this map that @Beaker created and forum members have populated with various venues. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?m...v8&usp=sharing

Although I've used neither, Clevedon, Akarana or the yet to open Auckland Shooting Club would be your best bet. Depends on where in Auckland you're based, as Rushy says.

Clevedon and Akarana are NRA Full bore ranges no steel gongs, Clevedon has the more uniformed setup with 300 to 1000 yards

Long range AND steel...hmm. If by steel you mean paper then you you have a few choices but there's only one standing offer that i know of but it costs a bit to go on that farm.

The NRA clubs in the Clevedon area (there are 2) would be the go IMO. Check in the clubs section for Akarana if you're keen to shoot 400, 500 and 600y on May 7th (the next shoot).

I do have a contact up north but im a lazy arse who hasnt replaced a certain smashed up gong (thats evidently made out of butter).

I have shot both Akarana and Clevdon. Both very friendly and both have electronic targets. They will be winding down for the Winter mud season so if you want a shoot get out now before the weather closes them. Mate what possessed you to move to Auckland most of us just want to get out of here.

Nik on on the Fishnhunt forum is a NZ F Class rep, shoots at Clevedon. Not sure if he is a member at this pub.

Tbh got offered a membership at one of the pistol clubs so going down that track at the moment, but still keeping a look out for a spot to hit some steel. Have heard, and don't quote me on this, but Kerry who runs the gearlocker is looking to set up some long range events up this way so keep an ear out for that.
