Tried a few different things at the range today, found loading the bipod alot more helped the most, even with no front hold. Placed a sandbag infront of bipod feet so I could load without feet moving. I guess this is where the bipod spikes come in handy

Gunworks has that on their website and that's what I do using the spikes, but it certainly conflicts with the soft shoulder idea in those videos.

With my 16"308 and 7mm rem mag I try to load the bipod from my shoulder and support the rear of the stock with my left hand, the rest is just good form seem to get good groups with both, before I worked on my form shooting from a bipod was a waste of ammo

if you really want to see how recoil works on you and muzzle jump. try a .12ga prone....you get all its force straight into body, there is nowhere else for it to go.standing you move backwards and soak it up..prone you get compressed.
the above photos of troops shows modern stock design to help keep things inline.... its all swings n roundabouts. we see lots of muzzle brakes and suppressors...for rapid fire an upward venting port works really well to assist counteracting recoil.....yet its only ,sometimes at that, seen on hand guns.

Most people have the bipod height set incorrectly, this video does an OK job of explaining:

Also why smooth leg adjustable bipods should be avoided unless you have the time to adjust the height correctly, Harris ones are really bad for this since the locking screw is right at the bottom and there is spring pressure drawing the leg in when retracting, just get the notched version (with tilt)!
