I've only been to that range once - and Zeb was there. Nice to meet him.

You can shoot a rifle Mr Trout.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

I always run a bore snake down before shooting, don't like the idea of filaments of patch cotton left in the bore.

Meet Zeb there from Temuka with all his toys, nice.I hopefully only needed to fire a few rounds,2 flyers and 3 for a group.Zeb let me go ahead while his rifle cooled down.Well I fired 2 shots off the bonnet of the truck, woow thats all I need.Cleaning with hoppes I get a couple of flyers 1st then a tightish group of 3 afterwards.
Maybe the bore snake is a softer cleaner than the hoppes9 ?any how il leave the scope alone now.Zebs 7ml mag must have woken up every rabbit with in 5 ks with its earth shaking noise, lols
Heres my result after a quick bore snake clean using Hornady 165gr ssts.
Out of interest what brand is the bore snake you’re using? Need to get one may as well get something that works…cheers

Bit off topic (sorry Grant), but imagine if Hornady, or Nosler, or Federal, or one of the other big brands made a deodorant or cologne. Im not talking stag piss during the roar, but something different that would let the ladies know that yip, he's definitely a hunter.
That would save all the "have to be a gentleman" at the start before reverting back to basic old feral. I reackon there's a business opportunity there somewhere.
Might ask the missus and see what she reackons

Ali express is your friend for bore snakes. You can get 10 for what you'd pay retail here.

I used a Hoppes one and promptly got it stuck in one of my 22RFs. If the fowling is dry there is a good chance of this happening.
Also trying to remember if there are 22RF and 22CF versions. Mine is a 22CF.
    I won't be pulling it thru a 22RF again!

I don't hunt now but used to carry a length of single core 7/.029 conduit cable. Outer PVC was skinned midway for about 30 mm. Just used to sepearte the cores and feed a bit of 4x2 thru. Worked a treat.
Used it on at least on occassion when I hadn't taped over the end of my barrel and got mud in the muzzle.

    Otherwise, cleaning rods at home.

Thank you, great tip. Am a recent convert to bore snakes so just had a quick look on the site and see they also have gun socks. Bit of retail therapy coming up.
