I believe Mortars are restricted weapons in NZ.

However Lobbing Canons are not restricted weapons.

I built a Lobbing Canon that will shoot two golf balls around 200 meters in height and around 400 meters in distance.

This is the type of thing I have always envisaged, i'm 99.9% sure they are not restricted - If someone can point to the legislation that proves me wrong I would be interested.

I wonder if we can do a group buy if everyone is keen?

If that's a golf ball sized hole in there it looks very very short!

Most of these are made using old oxygen bottles.I'd still be worried they would burst. Its probably only 1/4 inch thick.

"punkin chunkin" has a better following. You can grow the pumkins in a mold.

The barrel is machined out of 4140 and the base is 10mm mild steel.

How far can you get it with such a short bore Pete?

    VC

The length of the bore is 100mm.

The powder chamber will hold 350grs of FFG

300 grs of FFG will shoot two golf balls around 400 meters.

But the idea with the lobbing canon is to shoot it high and try and land the ball closest to a mark.

At our canon shoot days we aim for 100m, closest to the peg wins.

    Cheers
    Pete

Pete, that is really awesome. How much did that set you back?

There doesn't seem to be much different in the design between a coehorn mortar and a lobbing cannon.

    Hahaha only subtle differences.

Cost me nothing but my time.

Everything was made out of off cuts destined for the scrap man.

The Boss was having a clean up in the workshop and let me take what I needed.

    Cheers
