I think a lot of hunters have grabbed a box of buckshot and had a crack at animals with the Defender or duck gun without first testing on paper, and been disappointed.

A good semi auto shotgun running a load that shoots well is just devastating on goats/pigs to 35-40 yd

In my Brno zh 201(shotgun / rifle combo) slugs and even home loaded round ball easily achieves 4 inches at 100 yards, with 00 buck 20 yards would be the absolute limit for one pellet in a 4 inch circle. Proper sights make a huge difference with slugs.
