Don’t be too surprised @Steve123 it’s been happening for some time.
This whole thing just suxs. How is it that we law abiding citizens that have been checked out by the police get treated like criminals.
Where as the crims get away with it.
This twit just spouts shit because he loves the sound of his own voice.... I wonder how many of the police he represents roll there eyes and say OH GOD there goes another load of good will down the tube in the community which we have spent years earning
Almost like that joke about year but year, but you shag 1 sheep.........

Indeed.
Cahill's feet need to be held to the fire at every turn. Not only is he targeting LFAO but in this interview he even discredits the organisation he represents:
02:08 - "Police have also admitted that their firearms data is flawed, it's very bad and it has to umm improve dramatically. In a internal review they did they found of 90 firearm incidents, only 5 were correctly recorded. So I um... have very grave doubts that their data is actually correct".
In other words 5.55% were correctly recorded. What determines a "firearm incident"? Let's assume two basic factors for the purpose of this discussion:
1. A firearm is present
2. A firearm is presented
One should ask how difficult can the presence of or the presentation of a firearm be to document if ~94% are "incorrectly recorded"?
It's not complicated. There was a firearm present, or not. A firearm was presented, or not.
As Ive said before, our police have close ties with our gun hating neihbours aussie, plus if the tv programs are anything to go by, and absolute ton of English coppers. they have way more stringent firearms laws over there. If this Cahill chap is being influenced by those two factions, it would go a long way to identify where he is getting his dribble from. Guns Bad-must stop guns ugh, even if my statistics are wrong ugh
My biggest problem is he is in a position that means the media listen to him. A few of his ideas actually have some merit, but the mantra and policies he nags on about undermine any good he would otherwise be able to achieve.
They say the squeaky wheel gets the oil (so he makes a lot of noise) but he should realise that the screeching wheel gets replaced..........
Guys I do live in the UK and have both a shotgun and firearms tickets. Are the laws here more strict?
Not really just different. You don’t need to sit any test. In fact to own a shotgun they don’t really ask for any prior experience. They don’t do separate interviews of the spouse.
So on a game day, or at a clay ground you could be standing right next to a person that has absolutely no idea.....and I have
Comparing the two countries it’s like grey v grey. Just different shades. Oh and there register on firearms is a joke. I needed to remind them twice that I had gifted my rifle to my father in NZ. They have enough trouble getting my name right. But each county is different my experience is for the Thames Valley police. Wiltshire just over the boarder is a total different kettle of fish. As in good fish and nice kettle.
Anyway statistics can be made to look like anything. ie a cut down shotgun is a pistol. And airsoft gun that looks like an ar....etc and coming from him he wants them to look like anything. Also look at one of those other interviews where the guy was saying that gun crimes in NZ are committed by the same small percentage of criminals again and again.
So Chail is telling us that we can’t trust the sats that are coming from the police? Umm so what can we trust? You need a really savvy reporter to just tear him a new one because he doesn’t seem to have to many clues. It wouldn’t be hard have all the facts in front of you and ask the questions when he doesn’t answer them...well now hilly old chap that’s not an answer is it...
This interviewer did a good job for his allocated time.

@Sideshow your rules are a more strict than here and the penalties are quite a bit harsher too I believe? I'll briefly summarize the small amount I know and if its wrong let me know.
You have registration,
you can only use the firearm that's on your registration papers,
if the cops don't think its valid you may not get papers to buy another rifle if its the same calibre as one you already own. Id imagine that comes down to the officer in charge, not necessarily the law
when prosecuted for firearms offences you get a penalty for each cartridge that you illegally own.
For many years there has been a power limit for air guns
You are limited to what shotgun ammo ie solids unless you have the right certificate/license
semiauto and pump rifles are only permitted if they are a rimfire-no centerfires
pistols used for sporting reasons were banned years ago.
Its way harder there than here
See underlined.

Yes you have pretty much summed it up correctly. But my point was getting the ticket be it shotgun or firearms ticket (They are not one and the same! You have a right to a shotgun ticket, and it’s a privilege to a firearms ticket) is a lot easier.
When I went for my NZ firearms license it was way harder. Once you got it it was a lot easier.
There are good and bad points to both the NZ and UK systems.
For one I think that the UK should introduce the seven rule test system and spousal interviews.
The register is a joke and should be got rid of. They have made it easier with rifle ammo I can now buy expanding ammo.
But they still have some funny stuff that’s hard to get your head around. Like for instance I can buy all reloading stuff without a license? Primers powder brass. You only need a license once it’s assembled.
The rest of the uk firearm license system was designed to keep the wife happy so you can’t impulse buy.
Hope this worked this time it seems to be having a fit with me. Cheers S
