    Does it still exist?

I can remember ads for rifle in the 70’s that listed them in that calibre but nothing over recent years.

Sooooo, a magnum has to have a belt, but wouldn't "belted" in "belted magnum" be a redundant adjective? What about the mightiest of magnums, the .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire? 44 Rem Mag etc.

You do realise that the only reason the 270 came to be was becos the yanks couldn’t bring themselves to admit that the Germans got it right with their 7mm. BTW the original parent cartridge is a arguably better all round proposition - the trusty old 3006. In the ackley improved version it’s not that far behind the 300 magnums

My understanding has always been Magnums have a bigger case head diameter than 'standard' case heads based on the 8 x 57 size. Because of it's outstanding performance and service to improving the life of mankind, the 270 was recently granted 'Honorary Magnum' status and newly produced cases are now stamped 'HM'270 Win

Cover your bases own both, they are both great performers in the field. The 7mm has a better selection of projectiles but t=in saying that there are more than enough to make the 270 work.

The 280/284 etc BORE diameter is .277 and the 270 is BORE diameter of .270 So that means 7.035mm is closer then 6.858mm

A Magnum is also a Large bottle of Champagne.
Of the kind usually squirted over other men by 270 Shooters at Mardi Gras and holiday resorts where only men are invited.
