why are you asking here then if you cant take the boys having some harmless banter look for another forum weve all been on the recieving end of it one time or another theres a forum box of tissues floating round somewhere for those who got their precious little feelings hurt
Sorry bit old to know the significance of smiley faces and shit how about this for a suggestion the as the rifle is recoiling its settling into the bags differently opening up the groups
Or canting the rifle
Sell the bloody thing! I just wont put up with that shit!! not to mention the 270 shit
Boom, cough,cough,cough
Seriously on the pressing down on the scope rings tip - this was me yesterday using my patented 'cant be bothered with 3 shot' groups method. Just trying to sort out a little .243 that weighs only 4kg total. Completely hates all shelf ammo except for winchester. I ripped up a quick batch of speer 85gn spbt to use up some 4831sc that i had. As you can see when i tried my normal position on shots 1&2, 13&14 the shots went quite wide. I just settled on the weighted front ring method and it began to produce better results.
Stress - this is not for target zeroing. Im just a lazy arse and i had 1 hour to run down a big hill, loose 20 shots and run back up. Heading out hunting and i noticed last weekend it was hitting a foot higher than i wanted.
What are the bags filled with?
Could the filling be settling with each shot fired?
This would effect the grouping.
Some quality advice here thanks gents! Will try the scope ring pressure nxt time with the bags and if that's not helping? Fu*king the bags off is the next option haha
Nothing wrong with shooting off a bipod folded up over pack, find this often sets rifle at a nice angle shooting ridge to ridge and also very stable to get nice and low position behind rifle but still some elevation.
All techniques aside if after breaking shot and recoil sightpicture comes back onto close to exact spot you were aiming you technique is good.
More ammo downrange and you will figure it out what's going on.
I personally have yet to see a rifle that could shoot well using an aid like a bipod and not off any other support. It is usually the other way around.
If the group pattern was similar but larger then I would say it is a rifle fault. If it is not then it is likely a position issue.
Without watching someone shoot it is just a lottery finding a solution.
Get someone else that is comfortable shooting without a bipod to shoot it for you. If they pattern similar groups then you can work it out from there.
I understand your frustration. But I am sure you will get to the bottom of it.
When you do, you will be gaining knowledge and experience.
A lot of solid advice has already been given. But as you can see by reading above, there can be a heap of variables.
