OK I know you engineer types are tricky but how can you possibly measure something from a photograph without a reference?
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

That notebook is 148mm! Meh - Hits a hit I digress. I'da been happy hitting my 1m x 1m rubber board target I've been carting about lately.

I use Autocad to cheat all the time. It saves measuring up an elevation of a building if you take one measurement and then scale the photo in cad. As long as things are on the same focal plane (all you old guys who did tech drawing will know what I'm yapping on about). I just draw a line over the photo (say 148mm) and then use scale 'Scale' and the nested "reference" halfway through it.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...gns.targetCalc That's another program you can put on your phone that does scaling. Initially thought you had to have a 1inch square in the pic but you dont. Can be any known measurement

White mans magic. I feel ripped off now. I asked for that to be a 25cm gong. Still not to detract from the legendary shooting we should leave it at that.

HAHA I thought you'd put a ruler to it. If they are a bit smaller I'd say its because steel does shrink when you put extreme heat to it (like a cutting torch). He could have marked out a 10" disk and its just a bit smaller now?

My uncle once told me that welders have to factor this into making beams to keep them straight - Is this true or BS?

Shit bends as you weld it as the molten metal cools and shrinks.
Can lessen the effects but not stop it.
