    Headstamps on factory brass

Mate bought a job lot of Hornady superformance factory sst a while back. All in sealed boxes, but most if not all of the brass is discoloured as if exposed to damp. This is not a big issue, just mentioning it.
Anyway, while mucking around with his 308, we notice that some boxes of the 165 sst are headstamped with the normal Hornady mark, while several are headstamped as Match.

Not had a chance to experiment with both types at the same time yet, but just wondering if the possibly different brass is likely to make any difference to how it shoots.

Had the same issue with a packet of superformance I bought for the old mans trip. Discolored and different head stamp some had noticeably less powder than others, took it back to the store.

Noticed some of mine have match and others don't, have changed factory ammo since (mainly due to not being able to afford $3.50 each time I pull the trigger)

I have a 308 case from a box of winchester factory, that is headstamped 243 win. Contacted them and they said that after the first anneal cases for 243 are taken off the main line head stamped then go to neck forming etc. Mine must have been taken off or fallen off the line and been replaced on the wrong conveyor.

We sometimes got discoloured brass when I worked out of Rotorua, I think it had something to do with the sulfur in the air, never effected the ammo though.

First time I encountered that... air... I looked around me to see who'd done an eggy one.

It's a bit like that sometimes.
