Little bit off topic. During the weekend I got bogged to my waist in this whilst crossing a slip filled creek thanks to Gabrielle and my own stupidity. It wasn't a good situation 'cos I was by myself. Got myself out after about 15 mins of getting my pack off and getting onto my side and pulling myself using the pack in front of me, and then got hold of a tree branch and onto the firm .
Rifle was a mess. Ran the 'scope under a tap when I got home and wiped everything with a wet rag. Then oiled everything. Suppressor saved shit getting into the barrel so that just got the one pull through. Will take the action out of the stock when the roar is finished 'cos don't want to upset the zero in the mean time. Shit happens. Stainless is cool.

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

a sticky situation indeed.....really easy to do yourself damage like that too, straining muscles in weird directions.pleased you got out ok.
75/15/10 black powder matters
Yea I'm like most others, after every time it's fired around, but I only clean for powder residue etc with like brake clean or carb cleaner with a patch then a soggy patch with ballistol. Learnt my lesson with cleaning copper foul once and only attack that problem when accuracy starts tailing away. Rifles are always stored away lubed regardless.
Cursed be the ground for our sake. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for us. For out of the ground we were taken, for the dust we are... and to the dust we shall return.
For hunting just a single lightly oiled pull through, and one before the hunt. Found this enough to clear out any bush detritus but also keep a reliable foul/coldbore shot. Every rifle I've owned has shot different poi on a clean bore. Pita to foul and check zero every hunt
.22LR - internal barrel scrub every 10 years. Always put away rubbed down with a rag covered in EEZOX and suppressor removed.
Centerfire or non-lubed rimfire - after every shoot, foaming bore cleaner down barrel, soak for 5 minutes, scrub with NYLON brush, flush with contact cleaner, couple of clean patches followed by a wet one covered in EEZOX. Rub down with EEZOX rag and into the safe minus the suppressor.
I clean my 22s every 500 rounds or so, just run a few patches with boretech C4 to remove the carbon fouling.
Usually I'll clean the chamber at the same time to reduce a carbon ring forming.
Centrefire gets cleaned after every outing, just oil on the outside and some oily patches through the bore.
I never bother going crazy cleaning the bore, even after 80+ rounds, just clean out the carbon to stop it building.
If I shoot in the rain I'll take the action out of the stock and do a thorough clean.
If it's been really wet I'll disassemble the bolt and clean that too.
My shotgun is lucky if it even gets an oily rag on the outside.
that is a very accurate sum up of what's required BOBBA - tontavarish - I will let one of the target . 22 people awnser for their requirements - centerfire different cleaning regime - bore snake after 10 shots - that sounds like total overkill - personally I wont use one and worse yes you can love a barrel to death thru overcleaning - why a bore snake thru a .22 every 10 shots - something just not right here - I will let our target boys awnser this as you do need to really get your cleaning sorted - major things wrong

Centrefires every time they are fired. Lightly oiled rag over metalwork if not fired. Snake to remove excess oil from barrel before heading out each time.
Rimfire and air rifle only very rarely, oily rag if it’s wet or dewy
ruger 10/22 running cci subsonics.
had a few plays with it target shooting, after about 10 rounds at 50m its added about an inch to its spread, pull a snake through and its back to where it was. isn't a barrel temperature thing. absolute pain in the ass and i'm almost thinking of selling it just because of it.
Only owned 1 10/22 it was fantastic, ran cci subs well shot into less than 1" groups at 50y consistently. I cleaned the action after running a brick through it (1000 rounds) never touched the barrel, it always maintained tiny little groups at 50 yards.
Your experience is strange to say in the least.
Have you tried leaving it for say 200-300 rounds to see if accuracy returns ? My understanding of 22s is that once the barrel is fouled they reach an "equalibrium" where they shoot best after so many rounds.
I have never found the need to touch a 22 barrel unless it's got wet inside.
