    Long range practise canterbury?

Hi guys, just wondering if someone here knows of or has access to a suitable area for long range shooting.
I realise there has been a thread about this previously however it looks as though the 1 question that got asked went unanswered....
More than happy to provide beer, coin, venison or whatever for the privilege, just looking for somewhere to practise on a more regular basis.
    Any thoughts much appreciated
    Cheers

There used to be a few steel targets up at Lake Lyndon, but I've heard there is only one left now. Otherwise beat the feet and try and find a few rocks somewhere.
There is a gun club around Darfield somewhere that shoots out to 1000 yds, but don't know if it is F class or what. You would have to fit in with their club days, ranges etc.

The lyndon area where the range is cam be really popular with othrr recreational users. I know people who came down the hill after a hunt to.find a 416 pointing up the face they were coming down. They had been spotred by the shooter so.no shots were to be fired but it highlights the risks and potential for ant gun blow ups if areas become popular for shooting practice with no safety control and feee access from any direction. Clubs or private land are what im.looking into at present. Ive already had an experience of someone claiming i was shooting over them (wasnt even in same area) it brings too.much drama

Yea man I hear you, hopefully can track down some private land. As you say it's way less hassle and its usually easier to deconflict with the land owner as opposed to range staff. Uphill downhill field firing also beats a standard range hands down!!

Just a big set of butts and mounds at 100 200 300 500 600 700 (not marked with ranges, use your imagination or a rangefinder)

will need targets and a range mat / anything to lie on
