Will our country allow some thing like this in the future?
The lever release rifle will be fallen under "near semi auto" category just like those pump action rifles did.

That's not how the ones coming in through Aoraki work, they just use the side charging handle. It's pretty quick to operate with non-dominant hand, last round bolt hold open of course, you can have either left hand side or right hand side charging handles, there's a a variety of optics mounting options (@beavis can fill you in there), and it was more accurate than I was expecting (open sights vs 3-4" plates at 100m prone unsupported every time). Threaded 14x1 (not left hand thread either)

Talk of straight pull rifles reminds me of the Troy SAR.

(The Kiwi version will probably have an AR style telescoping stock like the PAR did)

I spoke to someone at Gun City and he confirmed they are planning on bringing some in, they should be available around March.
I'm sure Ken at 55six.co.nz will bring some in as well.

This is probably the best bet for those that want to use their AR accessories.

Is there any reason why this would be legal if the pump action version is not? I appreciate there is very limited logic in the decisions, but it still looks like something that NZ Govt/Police will want to ban just because they can.
