Not so smart... firing bowling bals will get you kicked off the line. Targets aren't free and i use mine a fair amount at shoots.

Sweetas though, i will put together a shoot description and a plan and a few rules before the day. I suspect i will limit the calibers to 338 or less and anyone whos running a big 338 will want to get me to ok the use of it on my targets before they day. Some of the big 338s are running a 300gr projectiles over 3000fps and i haven't tried one on my targets before.

There is an old woolshed onsite and i'll just have to confirm with the owner if there is running water there. I'll ask about the camping, i suspect i'll be out there on the Friday setting up anyway.

Yep have had the 338 lapua scenars on my targets at less than 250m and although it swung the target right round the frame there was barely a pot mark on the target. Yours will be fine Nibblet.

Right i had better get some gear sorted i suppose. I am heading out to the location in the morning to start planning the shoot - target locations, shooting locations, parking, spectators and the such. I am also taking out a target or two to have a ping at myself.

I had a chat to the owner and camping onsite is ok but YOU WILL NEED TO BRING WATER!!!! Anyone planning on camping out there will need to confirm with me beforehand.

Scoped out some land today and caught up with the owner. We took the quad over some of the rest of the property and there is definitely scope for a full on field shoot with targets out to 700m or so.
Anyways, location for next month's shoot looks great. Not much shade but plenty of room for shooters and targets. And plenty of magpies - though 2 less after i left

    387m 10" square target

    710m 14" square target

3 shot 11cm group on the 843m 10" square target
    199p and Dougie like this.

Its a good set up for me. And just to clear things up i had a 14" square target set up right next to that 10" one. I took a few shots at that one before firing the group!

Competitor shall hold their unloaded rifle off the ground with the "non firing hand" (i.e. left hand if they shoot right handed) for a minimum of 60 seconds. Once directed by the range officier the competitor shall load and fire 3 shots off hand at the designated target.

At the commencement of the time limit the Competitor shall pour a bucket of water followed by a bucket of sand over their rifle to the satisfaction of the range officer. The competitor shall then load and fire one shot at each of the following targets - 370m, 630, 780m, 440m.

    hahahahaha....

just kidding.... Working on the shoot documentation at the moment.

Absolutely bolts open... no scope caps either.

And if you don't want to hold your rifle with arm extended for 60 seconds the alternative is 5 pull ups...

Shoot description is written i am just polishing it off and sorting out the "have a go" time afterwards. As the access track for the shoot position comes in front of the firing line any one ariving late will have to wait down the bottom of the hill untill told it is safet to come up.
