You're on your own there @duckdog !
That looks like around 54 ft/lb recoil energy. Yeah nah !
Most I've dealt with so far was 44, and that was fairly unpleasant

At this stage I’m leaving Auckland 3pm on Friday from Onehunga. If any of the Auckland crowd want to pool I have 2 spare spots. Happy to drop you off at your own accommodation on the way to New Plymouth. Will drive back up after the shoot. A couple of dollars gas money would be sweet if you’re keen.

Setting up on Fri afternoon, will try to post a photie or 2 if signal is ok at the farm.
I've been sent a video of the recoil on one of the more "energetic" entries - let's just say we may see a couple of scope eyes if that was anything to go by
Weather forecast is looking good so far, see you guys on Saturday morning

I would like to attend, but am out of the country, so you boys have fun this weekend.
This will be right up your street then @ebf https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=RyWS7vTh7PI
It's all fun and games till Darthvader comes along
I respect your beliefs but don't impose them on me.
Thanks ebf for organising a fantastic shoot.
Most people stayed around at the end and socialized and had send some large calibre pills at the 500m gong. A few people getting really close.
Thanks to all those kind people that let us cubs have a shot if their rifles.
308 vs 458win mag and 505 gibbs
I didn't take many photos of the ranges. But the charging lion and balloon stage was good fun
That is a very impressive pic with the flame ring what cal was it
505 gibbs.
He took 3 or 4 shoots at a 500m gong with it. Got close but no hit.
Just got home. Thanks for making it a fun day guys.
We will definitely be doing this again. 12 in "bigish bore" class and 4 in "cub class" - and 2 dad and son teams (great to see)
Good to meet several forum members today.
@Friwi got the "big kahuna" prize with his 505 Gibbs. Closely followed by a couple of 458 Win Mags
And in the score stakes it was a close affair with @Marty Henry pipping @Tuckerbox and @JohnM ending in 3rd, single point difference between the top placings.
Lots of interesting canons - we had the 505, 2 x 458 Mag, several 9.3s, a ferocious 378 Weatherby Mag, 2 x 45/70, a 454 Casull and even a muzzle loader

Shoulder is a teeny bit tender tonight. Just got back to Auckland. Thanks a million to the team for organising a bloody good day! There were some awesome rifles there. Very cool to see some big bore black powder action and how everyone who was keen got to try some unique pieces. Can’t wait for the next one.
Many thanks for a great day.
Nice to meet so new members and try some new calibres.
Great, looking suitably "safari".
