so where did the shot you fired later the same day at "something" like a pebble on a clay pan at similar distance land????
and where has the shots on paper you have since fired ended up???
have you checked the free float??? eg no bit of crap stuck in barrel channel???heck 300 yards you didnt need to dial so surely you cant have dialed wrong....

300 yards = what friggin hold over????? 3" high at hundy, dead on somewhere around 275ish,so still on the money honey at 300..... but I dont dial at all LOL... just pointing out that having rifle zeroed something like that would have eliminated ONE possibility.....

If i dial to 700, why not dial to 300 and put it exactly where i centre the cross hairs ? Sure, takes a lil more time. But to me, it's more precise.

when this happened to a friend with his 7x57 it came down to switching primers or picking up the wrong type for the load

if the others were all on target this isnt very likely tho

He's old school mate, would probably get his long hair caught on a turret if he even knew where to find it

because if you KNOW its 300 and you KNOW your bullet will be 2" low..the placement of Xhair is academic.... and it will save you time...and the relevance to this thread/situation....it would be one less thing that could be reason you missed by either 10" low or 10" high asuming deer had 20" chest...
    but to each thier own.

Im asuming you were aiming chest/centre shoulder when you missed 3 times????? thats a big error ...caused by "something" if you can narrow down the "somethings" it might make life more simple.......Im a simple fella and like things to be simple LOL.point and shoot.

What about your body position when you missed, were you comfortable/setup the same as your other hits?
