    A heavier rifle will help to see shot splash but so will the technique of your follow through. Learning better follow through is cheaper than upgrading tools/toys.

    Use a rifle with barrel in line with stock. (AR15 anyone?).

    Read article about Korean War Aussie sniper. He for his part was grateful his 'H' barrel scoped SMLE climbed on the shot so he didn't observe the immediate effects of his shots.

    A muzzle compensator (note, did not say brake) will reduce climb best. But an in-line suppressed is best.
