That is the point. How many people can tell the difference between 300 and 340?????
So you hold cause your sure it's about 300 then wonder why you miss, if you'd aimed high even with a 100 zero there is a good chance of a connect. Remember that past 300 bullets start doing brick shit.

Sighted in at 100 most calibers have around 6 inches of drop at 300.

Na, sighted at 200, most calibers have about 6-8 inches of drop between 200 and 300!

Really? ? I would say more like 10 inches with something like a 308 being 12-15 inches

Errors in range estimation have the same effect whether using hold over or otherwise. Have you been on the turps again...

what WH said , if u r going to estimate range i personally dont go past 300 , i practice guessing range then range find it see hw close i am even a cheapy range finder will do 300 take it to work with u you will be suprised hw far out u r to begin with , my 308 has a vx1 LR (good /light/reliable if u dont dial/clear bush scope)gives u some idea where your drop is,but usually there abouts is close enough for under 300 as long as u have some idea of speed/drop, after that get the big gun and dial up that night force

Some of our members really know stuff Kiwiman. Others like me know stuff all.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

dosnt matter dose it??.if there long ranging im guessing they have rangefinders and ballistic calcs and best of all......dails on there scopes. And it dosnt matter if you set at 2" high at a huntdy or dead on at a hundy ,if you practice and get to really know what your rifle and scope set will do for you you will know your capabilities better than the other guy next to you.
