I use a variety of positions, depending on the lay of the land. For off hand, a very old position I was shown years ago, involving a locked elbow and resting the rifle on the fist. Also find a heavier rifle more steady. Also, I have noticed the longer you aim, the more you miss. As soon as I have a good sight picture, I squeeze that trigger.

    (a) I don’t use shooting sticks
    (b) I usually remove the sling ( qd fittings) when hunting.
    (c) so I’m no help to you at all!

I'd probably use a 30mm stone or a 12mm lead sinker if that's ok by you.

Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.

sticks are in a weird spot for me. I'll shoot off my mustering stick if i have to but most of my shooting falls under:

really close, no time to set up a stick or:
far off, plenty of time to set up a nice prone position.

I hardly ever use a bipod now though, its never bloody high enough to see over the tussocks

Hunt safe, look after the bush & plug more pests. The greatest invention in the history of man is beer.
