We run 2 of these type matches a year at Sparrowhawknz during the winter. Also the King of the Range ELR 1000-2000m at the start of Feb. We are doing a World record attempt weekend in December. Also a 22 comp in Mid November.
Our next big match like we just had will be beside lake Benmore in May and can take a lot of shooters full accomodated on site.
Alpine longrange is in November.
Vortex match in wanaka is sold out but I believe there may be some spots on the Sunday PRS match.
Don’t know what’s happening in the North Island. Get in touch with “the Bloke” on Facebook or internet for some info.
For info on Sparrowhawknz matches look on the website of follow on Facebook.
@Trout you don’t need real high magnification. Were probably only using the scope up to 18x
The range is open 14 th September.
Then closed for October and November.
Open again for the world record attempt in 14th 15th December
@Cowboy06 , cheers for info
Hi Cowboy06. My scope goes up to 16x,can dial up to 58 moa+15 in the retical which take me to about 1500yds.16x not real up to that distance,maybe 1200yds depending on target size.Iv got a new xbolt 300 win mag hells canyon long range 26 in barrel sitting in the cabinet.Got a suppresser fitted.Just waiting for a 20 moa rail.Then get some $$$$$ for a long distance scope.Got 2 weddings this summer $$$$$ so scope might have to wait.

300blk got 3 hits at a mile I think with a 16x atacr. Image quality is probably more important than magnification and reliable dialing turrets.
I quite often see a few people put off by one stage that is out of their capability of range when the majority don’t get hits on it anyway and it is usually only 5 rounds out of 60. Same with a baracade that is 90 or 45 degrees. It’s only 2-5 rounds and is supposed to be a challenge to work it out as it’s not something you would usually have a go at.
I have no problem hitting the large steel plate at our range at 800yds on a good day(no wind).Use to have a burris eliminator,which had to be zeroed at 750yds.So the ammo shops did well out of me,lols.For every deer I shot last summer,i put a bit of ammo down the range.All good fun.
