Hi Desert Rat. Join up with the guys from the Bruce Rifle Club that shoot near Milton. Service Rifle, lots of SLR's etc!

PS Carry handles are for sissies! NZ Army took them all off as a rifle being carried by the handle is not ready for anything!

Even the Asian tuck shop near work(all good kiwi tucker) has salt and vinegar on the checkout so you can put your own generous amounts of both on whatever.
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.

    FNG

Yea, and I would also want the non western pricing.

The only thing I have eaten that's remotely similar is sweet and sour chicken.

Cheers gundoc I am already a member there.
I never used to carry my SLR with the carrying handle and I never saw anyone else either, I used to loop my webbing around it on runs that's all. I am just being very sentimental wanting the same type of SLR I was first issued as a 16 year old boy soldier, must be a getting old thing!

I think the phrase is as "originally manufactured (OM)" for the collectors out there.

But I agree there's a sentimentality of such things... and must have been handy too having that on the BFT's

No weapons on BFT's or webbing unless things have changed since I left. Have ran a few of them still pissed from the night before in my time, oh to be young again!!

    Hmmmmmm, sounds like Andy.......
I just picked up two plastic carry handles for the SLR, a black one and a green one, let me know if you get a rifle and are still looking for a handle, I want to keep one for mine, preferably which ever of the two (if either) is "correct" for an NZ issued SLR.

Welcome Desert Rat, I am reasonably new here. I know what you mean about SLRs. I had a FN-FAL BEFORE joining the Army and then an SLR later. It was hard not to hate the Styer when you have owned and fired some of the alternatives.

I know what you mean, we had the SLR taken off us about 1988 ish and replaced by the SA80 piece of shit, more accurate but definately not squaddie proof.
I had a go with some Aussie Steyr's when I was down at Bisley for the main British Army shooting competition, I thought that was shite too.
I'm no expert I just know what I preferred before anyone starts quoting stats and facts at me
