It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

Thanks guys will check it out.
Im looking at a rifle for mostly range shooting with the view to perhaps learn a bit about longer range shooting, and a little hunting in the future. Any brands/calibres I should specifically be looking at?
This is a subjective topic, a bit like what brand/model of car to buy.
A good reference is Nathan's website:

If you like the Howas and want to reach out there for hunting and targets, look at the 7mm Remington Magnum calibre.
Its popular for a reason.
Good optics are also a must for long range, don't scrimp and I would expect to pay double on optics to what your Howa costs.

I have been looking at the Sako and Remington range lately and had my eye on the Vortex optics or the Leupold CDS models. Perhaps overkill for a first rifle but I believe in buying things once making sure they are up to the task. Im very interested in getting some training or attending a course in this regards - same for some pistol shooting.
Another option is to get a cheapie, shoot the crap out of it, then from that use make the list of the gear you really, really want. But the correct fit is #1.

I like the Sako Roughtech. I think itll come down to visiting a shop and trying some on for size. I do really appreciate all the feedback.
Just one more bit of advice.
Don't buy from Guncity!

I wasn't planning too. I've not heard much positive in their regard.
Auckland GC do have some good prices on decoys and projectiles to be fair, just know your stuff and what it should cost.
