    Hello from Austria

    Hi everyone,

    it's never easy to introduce oneself but I'll give it a try.

    I'm from Austria... so pretty much as far from New Zealand as possible. In our mountains I have the best hunting opportunities that one could ask for but back in 2011 the dream evolved to accomplish an unguided backpack hunt in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. The landscape in New Zealand is just another level of spectacular and so are animals like the tahr. Being a hunter that loves physically demanding hunts off the beaten path all this was something that I just had to experience. However, I never had the money or the time to let that dream come true. During those years I kept planning, reading, looking for information and writing e-mails to ensure the best possible preparation for the day the adventure would finally kick off.

    Now that day is approaching. If nothing goes wrong I'm going to visit your beautiful country early next year. That's why I signed up on the forum to keep up with the latest news, read your stories and maybe ask a few questions.

    Don't bother bringing a suitcase full of Swarovski with you - they cheaper here for some reason :-)

    Indeed, I was pretty shocked when I first saw how cheap most optics and rifles are in New Zealand.
