    Hello fromCentral Illinois USA

    Hello New Zealand

My name is Bill. I am a retired chemical plant worker. I have been shooting for over 50 years. My interests run across the board from rimfire to cenetrfire, rifle, pistol, shotgun, and reloading. I've been a member of the Midwest Gun Collectors Association for 25 years. I use the range once a week year round regardless of the weather.
Believe me, the temperatures run from upper 90's in summer to below zero in winter. A close group of friends make a range trip a good BS session. I joined to see what's going on in the shooting community on the other side of the world. Thanks for allowing me to join!

Welcome aboard Bill. The shooting community in New Zealand is alive and well despite it being fractionated and moreover, despite the best efforts of the anti gun lobby’s attempts to see us go the way of the dinosaurs. You’ll be glad to hear that down here hunters and shooters alike are very capable of talking copious amounts of bull shit and not only at range sessions. Again welcome.

Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

Welcome, met one of your fellow countrymen yesterday, wasn't a hunter, just walking the world in his retirement.

Good friends and good guns make for a good time. Living in Illinois our current governor has played havoc with our gun rights. FOID cards ( firearm owner identification cards), special registration for certain firearms are an everyday reminder of our rights. We all pay for crime in Chicago. The rules only effect law abiding citizens. They do nothing to deter crime.
But I'm venting. Joined to see what goes on the other side of the world. I'll browse the forums to see how things operate.

    Welcome Bill.

My wife has a distant relative there and we caught up with him while passing through. He lives pretty close to you by the sound of it- took them about 50mins to drive south into the city to catch up. His wife is an architect and gave us a little tour including the Willis Tower. It's a loooong way down standing on that glass floor.. We were staying near the Bean and stumbled across the famous Buddy Guy's Legends bar just round the corner. The line-up of guitars on the wall was mind-blowing.

    Hi 6x47
I live about 95 miles southwest of Chicago. Been there many times and it's an amazing city. We're " in the country" down here. My town has @1600 people. It's a 35 mile drive to our range. Places to shoot in Illinois are dwindling, kind of an antigun administration. We have a great club range, but have had to spend over $200,000 in legal fees over the last 3 years to stay open. So far, we're hanging on.

Haven't hunted in almost 30 years. Nothing against it but just acquired other interest. Deer, rabbit, and squirrel are the most popular. Duck and geese are next. Coyote hunting was hot years ago but cooled off. The coyote population came back fast so hunting them is coming back. Thanks for the welcome.

I am usually pretty savy, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to make a new post here. Any tips?

Welcome Bill. I have spent a bit of time shooting in the Quincy and Barry area several years ago. Good memories!

Screenshots show if you wanted to add something about coyotes in the Varminting category.
    Hope this helps

Welcome Bill, I worked in Montana 28 years ago, was great to have a go on the boss's pistols, 357 and 44 and his 338 win mag. Had a lot of fun shooting gophers.
