My wife and I lived near Hyder for most of 2006, I was lucky to see Wolverine way up one of the glaciers that flow off the Cambrian Ice Field in BC. Even from 500' above, it looked like an animal not to be messed with. It ran straight down a bluff system with the speed and agility of a Tahr, very impressive.

Hoping to visit NZ next year, my little brother married a Canadian chick and moved to Canada 'bout 6 years ago and now is fixin to move over to Christchurch this summer, gonna let him get settled in then go check out that big rock I've been dreaming about going to the last 20 years

Alyeska Skiing area near Anchorage is OK but nothing like ya got there .
I worked in the construction of the new Heli Ski resort in Thompson Pass near Valdez Alaska "Tsaina Lodge" and got to see what "Heli Skiing" is all about.... NZ has world class skiing opportunities including Helicopter drop off skiing that is phenomenal !
A bunch here do the snowmachine up the back of the mt and ski down the steep side , gotta do something in the winter or go mad from cabin fever
