Hello from the other side of the world

    Hey there,
My name is Ron, im from southern germany and have been living in Switzerland for the last 15 years.
Im a hunter since some years, i love to fish too, basically everything thats got to do with nature and also with food

Having travelled your beautiful country without hunting im curious whats going on over there when it comes to hunting. While i was hiking in NZ i saw a lot of boar tracks in the woods and had a glimpse of some deer.

Thinking about relocating to your beautiful end of the world im here to get in touch with you locals!

And thanks for all your information on this forum!

    Cheers from black forest
    Ron

    Welcome.

Plenty of hunting and fishing to be done here. Almost too much to list 7 species of Deer, Tahr, Chamois, Goats, Wallabies, Rabbits, Hares......Trout, Salmon, Tuna, Marlin, endless table fish from the sea, shellfish, crayfish....................where do you stop

    Thanks Gibo!

You do however realize by stating all that you make it nearly impossible to be here and not wanting to IMMEDEATELY board a plane and fly to NZ?

Seriously... although most of the species were introduced it still gives lots of different hunts! And fishing... how i miss a proper fish. Most of the rivers and streams here are f*****
because of too much nitrogen in the water which comes from the fields. Agriculture seems to be our biggest enemy these days... bloody shame!

Gibo forgot to mention that there are no hunting seasons here (except game birds and river fishing). You can hunt 365 days of the year with no limit bag. Some of our rivers also have the nitrogen problem (from dairy farming, etc) but steps are being taken to rectify the problem.

Welcome Ron, enjoy the forum and the information we can offer on our hunting & country. Visited both Germany & Switzerland a couple of times, truly beautiful mountainous areas in both countries.

Mostly France and the Scandinavian countries as my dad had been in Finland with Shell oil in the late 50s. Passed through Germany on the way to Sweden. No hunting except in limogue where i got to hunt "illegally" on the farm of the uncle of an exchange student we hosted here. Several rabbits without a hunting license between us.

Welcome. I was over your way about 3 months ago, I was staying in Baden Baden. Plenty of good hunting here in NZ, I'm sure plenty of people will be able to help you out with getting a head start to shoot a few animals.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

    Welcome to the forum.
We here in NZ have just elected a new government and they are clamping down on immigration as they have finally realised NZ is already full.
If you do manage to win a ticket to enter our country (being a multi millionaire helps) I am sure you will enjoy the hunting and fishing opportunities on offer.
    Enjoy.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

    Welcome to the forum!

Glad you were in the South when you visited NZ last. It’s the best part in my humble opinion lol

Our emigration criteria (if you’re considering coming to reside here) can be peculiar; you’d need to be looking at a management level role to meet residency requirements.

Our government websites will give you all the detail re immigration, but we’re here with plenty of advice on hunting and fishing!!
