Thread: Long time lurker, first time poster

Hey everyone.

Been lurking the forum for a while now, it has been really useful. So thanks to everyone in the community for the wealth of info.

Currently going through through the process of getting my A Cat, ticked off the MSC safety course today, so one step closer.

Once I've got my licence I'm keen to get on the buy and sell. Thought best to sign up now, my understanding is there is a probation period on your account before you get access to buy and sell, is that right?

The primary reason for getting my licence is I'm keen on collecting WWII stuff, so will start with A Cat eligible stuff (Enfield's, Mosin's etc.), then see how I go from there.
I'm also a tramper so keen to give hunting a crack, will be looking for a 308 for that.

I'm based in Otaki, keen to meet like minded people, finding access to a range in the immediate area would be ace.

In answer to your question, I believe there is a minimum post count required before you get access to the buy/sell, but I can’t remember if it’s 5 or 50 haha I’m sure someone will come along shortly and confirm.
Collecting is a tough market these days, bolt action collectables are no longer cheap, and SMG/LMG’s are the price of a small nixe automobile. Pistols aren't too bad though so consider getting your B with your C when you get to that stage.
Since you’re in my neck of the woods, I’ll advertise Manawatu RRGC range as somewhere to join and attend if that interests you. Somewhere to sight in your rifle or come along to monthly service rifle shoots and wet your whistle on some collectable bolt guns. We’re more than happy to share the toys around so don’t worry if you don’t own anything yet. PM for more details if keen.
