    Not new to NZ but new to the forum

    Hi all

    I am Bruce and have been in NZ from NY since 2016
    I am looking for info about bringing over my family collection from the states in the future and what issues I may have
    I have talked with a guy down near Wellington that is willing to help get them over here but there will be other issues I am sure
    I have been shooting for 40 years both in and out of the military but the gun laws are way different to the states

    Contact 3PL service providers in NZ, some are experienced with NZ - US route, costs are varied, but good news is sea freight price has gone down by half.

    Yes the firearms laws are very different here.
    I'm sure if you post what rifles are in your family collection, the members here will be able to advise you of what is likely to be allowed and what isn't.
    Of course you can always chat with your local arms officer to get further clarification.

    I would suggest the local Arms officer may be more discrete than an open forum listing what he is importing....Or potentially a local gun shop or club.

    Welcome aboard and good luck with the mission to bring in your firearms.
    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
    Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
    Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
    Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
    Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
    Rule 5: Check your firing zone
    Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
    Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
