    Smile Starting from Nothing

Hi all, I'm Dan! I spent my life growing up in the Auckland suburbs, with very limited chances to experience true hunting, fishing, tramping and shooting. Now that I am older, I am excited to dive into these activities, armed with a few crumbs of knowledge and a good chunk of enthusiasm. I look forward to bothering everyone with my questions!

Welcome! Don't worry. Better late than never! hopefully you have enough disposable income to dive into it as often as you would like. And time and brownie points in the bank.

Im a "townie" who grew up raised by a solo mum. Couldn't watch operations on tv..... Let along dissect a cows eye or heart in science class.
I now take heart liver etc home for my dog sometimes, solo hunt for a few nights at a time. I can almost sharpen a knife know without killing the blade
I can only thank a good friend of mine for sharing his knowledge with me and laughing at all the stupid things I have done along the way.
Nothing beats refilling the sole out in the beautiful countryside we are blessed to live in,
So there is hope for everyone!

What experiance do you have already with tramping and hunting, and whats your goals?

Thanks! I've been saving money and brownie points up so looking forward to spending some of them. Mostly day tramps around the Waitakeres and Kaimais. Pretty much all the shooting I've done has been at possums, rats and rabbits with a .22lr or shotty.

    Welcome!

That was me too except the curiosity and some fortuitous friendships helped get me out hunting in my late teens.

The deer stalkers is not a bad place to learn.

As @300CALMAN stated, clubs are a great way to get started. Deerstalkers was good when I was a member in Blenheim many years ago, so definitely worth considering. Welcome and if you want to get a lot from this forum, there is a depth of knowledge to be had. ( I hope you like reading....) Especially if you start looking through older posts which are still relevant today

Awesome! That's awfully generous of you. I think I'll have to take you up on that offer.

Thanks! That'll definitely be one of my first points of call once I receive my firearms license.
